As a leading Chinese higher level institution, WUT was selected as a priority under the “State 211 Project” for Chinese universities, and its Material Science and Engineering research made it into the “State 985 Project” supporting research and the internationalisation of the faculty.                      WUT has three campuses: the Mafangshan Campus, the Yujiatou Campus and the South Lake new campus, which cover an area of 267 hectares. Its 27 research centres focus their work on new materials, new energy, transportation, logistics, mechatronics and automobile, information technology, resources and environmental technology. The university regularly competes in National Science and Technology Awards.                     WUT also houses its own Science Park in China Optical Valley in Wuhan, where the university has incubated and fostered over six start-ups centred around new materials, fibre optic sensors, high-speed shipping, new energy technology and advanced manufacturing.         The university has collaborated with Harvard University since 2009. It also carries research with the University of California, the University of Strathclyde, the University of Michigan, the University of Southhampton, the University of Calabria, the University of Birmingham and Brunel University. WUT’s two campuses are located 17 kilometres away from each other in Wuchang, Wuhan, in the Hubei Province. There are numerous student clubs available to join, including the French, Japanese and Environmental Protection Associations, as well as the Photography, Ping-Pong, Chess, Kung-fu, Football, Guitar, Hip-Hop Clubs and others.
