At the University of Twente, we are pioneers in fusing technology, science and engineering with social sciences in order to impact the world around us. Constantly anticipating future developments and responding rapidly and effectively to changes in our environment: the University of Twente is the leading entrepreneurial university. On our beautiful highly technology oriented campus we today offer 20 mainly English-taught Bachelor’s programmes and over 30 English-taught Master’s programmes. With 80 nationalities present, we provide education for over 10,000 students from all over the world. 28% of the student body is international. Studying at the University of Twente means enterprising studying. Education at the University of Twente revolves around several core principles: a multidisciplinary, project-based approach, student-driven learning in which the needs of the student are the focus, and peer-based learning in which the learning environment is more natural and in which students learn from each other. The education of the University of Twente is provided by the five faculties: Behavioural, Management and Social sciences Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science Engineering Technology Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation Science and Technology In 2013, the University of Twente launched University College Twente (ATLAS, Academy of Technology and Liberal Arts & Sciences). It targets talented individuals who refuse to accept inferior solutions to complex issues – ambitious students wishing to broaden their skills to handle a high level of complexity. In a national context the Bachelor programmes  Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering and University College Twente were awarded the ‘Top rated programme’ seal. Five Master’s programmes have been granted the seal “Top rated programme”: Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Geo-information Science and Earth Observation, Sustainable Energy Technology and Technical Medicine (source: Keuzegids). UT’s most powerful research fields, including the most-advanced research facilities available, comprise nanotechnology with its 1250 m2 Nanolab, ICT, biomedical technology and technical medicine, governance & behavioural sciences and geo-information sciences and earth observation. The University of Twente is attractive due to the high-value research environment it offers and the opportunities for both senior and junior scientists. The University of Twente receives 40% more cites than the world average in its knowledge domains (score 1.4 on indicator MNCS). 15% of the UT publications are part of the 10% most publications fields worldwide within their domain.  Since the University of Twente’s founding in 1961, we have been deeply connected with the rich industrial heritage of the region and with the wellbeing of its population.  After all, the most interesting and relevant innovations take place at the cutting edge of these technologies and their impact on humanity and societies. We proudly carry forward that heritage. Today we are a catalyst to numerous vibrant high-tech industrial communities and sectors. The outstanding track record in valorization shows by the huge number of around 1,000 successful startups, spinning off new business in the University’s region and beyond.  We maintain lifelong partnerships with some 50,000 alumni worldwide.
