National Taipei University

Established in 1949, National Taipei University (NTPU) is located in the Sanxia District in New Taipei, Taiwan. It also has campuses in the Zhongshan District of New Taipei. Until 2000, it was known as the College of Law and Business, National Chung Hsing University. However, since its name change it has come to be known as one of Taiwan’s best universities, in particular in business, public affairs, law, humanities and social sciences. NTPU’s relocation project was completed in 2010, with the movement of six colleges from the Taipei City downtown campus to the San-Shia main campus in New Taipei City. The six colleges are the College of Law, the College of Business, the College of Public Affairs, the College of Social Sciences, the College of Humanities and the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In 2017, the student body amounted to 10,000, while the faculty members were counted at 500. Sports facilities available to students of NTPU are basketball courts, a football pitch, a softball field, tennis and volleyball courts, table tennis rooms, aerobics studios, a rock climbing centre, a gym, a spinning room and an athletics track. It has spread its influence globally, forming partnerships with 110 universities all over the world to launch international joint research, welcome exchange scholars, set up dual degrees and internships. Visiting students are from America, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, France and Poland, among others. The Sanxia District of Taipei (population approximately: 112,000) is home to an important religious site, the Zushi Temple, which was built in 1769 by Fukienese immigrants to Taiwan. According to experts, it is one of the most intricately carved temples in the small island nation.
