Nanjing Tech University is a comprehensive university with technology at its core.
International students can study at undergraduate, master’s or PhD level, or to take a Chinese language course lasting between one month and three years in length.
NanjingTech was established in 2001 through the merger of two universities: Nanjing University of Chemical Technology and Nanjing Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The older of the two, Nanjing University of Chemical Engineering, was founded over 100 years ago in 1902, and was originally called Sanjiang Normal School.
From its background in technical teaching, NanjingTech has expanded its curriculum to cover eight fields: engineering, science, management, economics, liberal arts, law, philosophy and medicine. It has 26 colleges teaching 70 disciplines.
NanjingTech has two campuses: Mofan Road and Jiangpu. Both campuses are located near train stations, providing easy access around the city.
Nanjing was the ancient capital of China and the city is steeped in history. It’s possible to take a walk along the old city wall dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Students should also make sure to visit the Confucius Temple, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Yangtze River Bridge and the Memorial Hall to the Nanjing Massacre.
The region is famous for foods such as beef dumplings, tofu in chicken soup and, for those with strong constitutions, cubed duck’s blood in soup. Numerous food stalls around town provide cheap sustenance for those on a student budget.
The university has four core values or “spirits” which it tries to instil in students: integrity, loyalty, proficiency and verity.
