The University Foundation (Built Environment) is a specialist programme for international students who want to study a degree at Birmingham City University, but do not have the qualifications for direct entry. This course is the first stage of a four stage programme, leading to an honours degree awarded by Birmingham City University.

Stage 1 (University Foundation): a balanced programme of English, study skills and academic subjects to prepare international students for undergraduate study in the UK. This stage is taught at Birmingham City University International College.
Stage 2 (First Year University): this stage is taught at Birmingham City University International College or Birmingham City University, depending on your chosen subject.
Stage 3 (Second Year University): taught at Birmingham City University.
Stage 4 (Final Year University): taught at Birmingham City University. At the end of this stage, you will graduate with an honours degree.

Note: this is an integrated degree programme at NQF Level 6. That means you will not have to renew your visa when you transfer from Birmingham City University International College to Birmingham City University and you may be accepted without a UKVI IELTS.

Academic	Completion of high school with good grades, equivalent to 5 IGCSE passes (at least 3 C grades and no more than one E grade). For progression to MEng/MSci degrees, B average with C in Maths.
English	English level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (5.5+ in all skills).
Minimum Age	Minimum age 17 years (at start of course).
